Artist Statement

During my childhood, I was surrounded by what are known as Japanese calligraphy, paintings, and ornaments.

Until my grandparents passed away, they lived in kimonos and took Goemon baths.

It is a way of life that has nothing to do with today's modern lifestyle.

I discovered modernist contemporary art at art school.

Rather than moldy ornaments, I want to create works with a more global perspective.

I was told to make it.

However, I don't think that Japanese ornaments are artistically inferior.

Rather, I feel it is a cool, cutting-edge piece of art.

I will continue to create paintings inspired by forgotten Japanese ornaments.

I will continue to draw.
